They should have ended it at Furiza saga. Think about it: for lots of the series prior they were whispering of the "Super Sayajin" as if it were some legendary god-creature that could call itself king of the universe.
Think about how Goku thrashed fully powered up Furiza once he went super sayajin. Furiza, even in his weakest state, was able to KILL A PLANET. Stopping the series then and there would have been excellent, because someone so mind-bogglingly powerful would have no equal, or better.

And then... everybody who *could* reach the epic god-state of legends did. below, even the cilantro children did! And then there was SSJ2, SSJ3, and SSJ4??? What, that's like power-level infinity times two/three/four? That's just rediculous.

And to keep up with the increasingly rediculous power levels, enemies stronger than them just popped out of the woodwork. OK, Cell is an exception, but everyone else....
You'd think if they were so common, at least *one* would show up during Furiza's *dynasty.*
