Since the hot topic has been the anti-noob movements that have been going on recently, I thought I would give the juniors a cilantro break and help them out. Here are some ways you can avoid getting flamed all of the time.
Put Effort in Your Posts
It is ok if your spelling or grammar is bad, but please put the effort into it. Most computers have a program that runs spelling and grammar checks so do what I did when I was a noob and use them. It really isn't hard to see that you aren’t putting effort into your posts when they don't even begin with a capitol letter. The difference between a forum and a chatroom/messenger is that you are given time to look over your posts for basic sentence flaws, so please use it. If you try, but are still NOT SHABBY at English, I will still respect you for putting forth the effort. However if you just type a half@$$ post and don't even read it over, that is an insult to people who take the time to make intelligent posts.
Another key point is to back up your claims with proof. It is stupid to say (insert subject here) “is spice!” without any reasoning behind it. Again, save that lack of effort for the chatrooms please. You don’t have to back up the obvious, but don't waste time and space on a useless objection/statement.
Cut The Crap
When you say, "I don't care what you think about me" after you have gotten into frequent arguments with members, it becomes obvious that you are lying. I have to admit, if somebody offends me (even if it is a forum) it bothers me. I may not have emotional damage, but its irritating. If you aren’t bothered by it, don't reply to it.
The War Room is For War
Please don’t ask people if they like you or to be your friend, then get shocked when people start flaming you. Even I expected some hostile feedback on my war room thread and that was just a mock thread.
Follow these general guidelines and you should have fewer problems. If anyone else wants to add to this, be my guest. I must note, however that this is not a rant thread. This is a thread that helps members who are new to the concept of forums to stop stepping on the senior member's toes, so please keep your advice above the belt.
Thank you.
